Flores de Miñas - Brazil - Natural - Espresso

Flores de Minas means 'flowers of Miñas' and is a collective lot from multiple female producers in the Sul de Minas region. It comes by way of SMC’s Women of Coffee initiative, named 'Donas do Cafe'. The women are given a platform to sell their coffee collectively and gain space in the specialty coffee market, and are given agricultural training and vocational support to lead a successful business. This coffee is a true crowd-pleaser tasting like honeycomb, nuts, & chocolate.

SMC

"Working closely with 40 agronomists they employ, training, innovation and support is provided to all the small holder farmers.

SMC is fully integrated to Cooxupe, the single largest coffee co-operative in the world, with over 11,500 members that produce over 4 million bags of coffee annually. Although integrated, SMC is focused solely on quality specialty coffee. They have previously hosted the Cup of Excellence and in 2019 they finalised an internal program to reward excellence amongst their farmers and encourage them to grow higher quality coffees. Everything they do is meticulously and thorough. They have their own warehouse with laser colour sorters, microlot tagging and cupping facilities. Bags of coffee are microchipped to ensure full traceability. The forklifts they use will physically not work if the code they read is not the code they should be picking up!

Donas do Cafe

Donas do Minas is a union of female coffee producers growing high quality specialty coffee in Sul de Minas.

SMC provides agricultural support to their members, foremost by their Chief Agricutltural Engineer Felipe Mesquita. Everything is closely monitored and logged, from soil nutrition and plant health to selective picking and sorting during harvest and post-harvest protocols. This data is then used to assess quality and make improvements year on year.
