New Works Pleat Pitcher

Designed by Omayra Maymó for New Works, the Pleat Pitcher combines sculptural design with everyday functionality. Made from mirror-polished stainless steel, its reflective surface catches the light and surrounding colours, making it a striking addition to the dining table. With a 0.9-litre capacity, it’s ideal for serving water or other cold drinks, while its distinctive spout is designed for drip-free pouring. It can also be used as a vase, bringing the same sculptural presence to a sideboard or kitchen counter. The pitcher is dishwasher safe, although handwashing is recommended to maintain its polished finish.

The studio of Omayra Maymó explores the expressive and story-telling ability of design. The Copenhagen based Spanish designer utilises the natural qualities of materials, often testing the boundaries of conventional production with an aim at providing a new perspective within the design industry. Mixing narrative-driven design with highly functional objects, her work promotes emotive-based design.

What if an object didn’t have to be perfectly uniform to be well designed? This question inspired Omayra Maymó’s research into bringing individuality to industrial production. Rather than forcing stainless steel into a predetermined shape, she developed a technique that allows the material to form the Pleat Pitcher’s distinctive spout naturally. Each pitcher is therefore slightly different, challenging the idea that perfection means uniformity. Her work shows how rethinking the way we make everyday objects can give them greater individuality, meaning, and the potential to be cherished for years to come.

Designed to be treasured. The objects we keep for years often become more than things we use; they become part of our everyday lives. Omayra Maymó explores this emotional side of design by creating functional pieces with a distinctive identity. The Pleat Pitcher invites us to look beyond utility and consider how thoughtful design can build a lasting connection between an object and the person who owns it.
